A rabbi. A priest. A CEO.

A rabbi, a priest and a CEO walk into a session on Insider Threat at a Corporate Security conference.

The rabbi whispers to the others. "We already handle this - threats are a condition of the human heart, and we have a long book of rules for that."

And a proud smile appears on the rabbi's face.

The priest frowns.  "We are better prepared, we have a specially appointed chief risk officer and large staff to actively monitor these issues."

And then a proud smile appears on the priest's face.

The CEO thinks a bit and responds. “Those old ways didn't do it for us.  We now run everything with a few data scientists.”

The rabbi shakes his head. "That will never work, they will miss persistent threats that reappear".

The priest crosses his arms. "There are many new threats, you need a bigger staff.”

And, a proud smile appears on the CEO's face.“Yes, yes, but now I sleep soundly.  They'll never catch me.”

Blogging is not talking to your dog

 bored dog

When you talk to your dog, your dog goes to sleep.  That is not good blogging.

When you talk to your dog, your dog will show up without an invite.  That is not good blogging.

When you talk to your dog without infographics, your dog will not care.  That is not good blogging.

When you talk to your dog and it can’t read it later on a mobile device, it won’t hate you.  That is not how blogs work.

When you talk to your dog, your dog doesn’t count your words.  This is not good blogging.

When you talk to your dog, your dog doesn’t want a chance to comment.  That is not good blogging.

When you talk to your dog, your dog won’t care if other dogs gather around.  That is not good blogging.

When you talk to your dog, offer your dog his new toy, not your old selfie.  That IS good blogging.

When you talk to your dog, offer choices of next activity – “walk?”, “eat?”, ”veterinarian?”, “play?”, “cookie?”  That IS good blogging.

When you talk to your dog, the most important thing is that the dog comes back so you can talk to it again.  And, that’s what counts most in blogging too. So you have to count your KPIs, else “that dog won’t hunt”.
